[THE LOWDOWN] Issue 03 | vidyo.ai

Hey,

Did you know there’s a world beyond networking, and you can even succeed without it? It might sound unbelievable, but it’s true. Networking is just one of many ways to connect with potential clients. In fact, we’ve identified 18 different ways in our “Pick 3: Getting Known for the Stuff You Do” webinar!

When I started my consulting business, I thought attending every networking event was the key to success. However, I soon realized that not all networking events are created equal. I once attended a women’s networking group where we couldn’t even discuss our businesses. Another time, I found myself at an event where I was practically invisible. It turns out that like-minded, quality individuals tend to gravitate toward each other at networking events. So, I’ve learned to focus on those events where I can truly connect with like-minded people.

My networking journey then evolved further when I realized that collecting business cards like a hunter wasn’t the most effective strategy. I used to think I was being proactive, but it came off as desperate. People do business with those they know, like, and trust, and I wasn’t building those relationships by collecting cards. It felt like I was at a bar trying to appear confident while actually being insecure and hungry. It wasn’t aligning with the Law of Attraction.

Ironically, it wasn’t until my business was overflowing with clients that I understood the power of genuine connections. My favorite colleagues started referring people to me, and I wish I had known this earlier.

I’ll be attending one of those fantastic events next week, and I invite you to join me!

Also, on the 23rd, two causes close to my heart are hosting fundraising events. I encourage you to make that day your day of giving too!

Keep an eye out for more exciting updates and insights in our future newsletters. Stay connected and be part of our thriving community!

Keep going…

I am sooooo excited about this book. I actually “read” Never Split the Difference Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It by Chris Voss years ago when it came out via audiobook. Ever since, when I put my iPod on shuffle, segments of the book jar me from grooving to my music. That being said, I’m always happy to review and hear Chris’ great hostage negotiating stories (and his voice!)

I learned about this software from the Everyday AI podcast (thanks, Brian Numainville!)

I didn’t know what to expect when I uploaded my last webinar footage into vidyo.ai and I was so Wow’d! It split the 90 minute video into at least a dozen segments. They all had appropriate titles and timestamps. You need to try yourself to appreciate it. A warning though: you only get 75 minutes and one upload at a time each month on the free plan so choose your first upload strategically! Anyway, don’t take my word for it. Check out this article
